Job Title: Commercial Manager
Salary: £55,000- £63,000 per annum dependent on experience plus 10% bonus
Location: Portsmouth/ Chelmsford or Isle of Wight

The role can be based at any of the following sites: Portsmouth, Chelmsford or Isle of Wight. Hybrid working and flexible working arrangements are also available.

The Product & Training Services commercial team comprises of 27 commercial professionals of all grades and experience who provide valued and trusted business advice by ensuring a balance of both maximising opportunities and managing business risk. Main Responsibilities:

• This is a unique role to the Product & Training Services (P&TS) Commercial team as it is an agile, mobile role that can be deployed into any of our 4 Business sectors to provide senior level support in bids or any other contract/commercial issues
• This will require the candidate to be able to operate in a flexible environment working with different teams and different customers. Furthermore the candidate will need strong and broad commercial/contractual skills gained from an established Commercial career
• In addition the candidate will be seen as one of the senior members of the P&TS commercial team is role will be require the successful candidate to play an active role in the management and development of the overall commercial team as well as providing functional support to the wider P&TS community
• The candidate will need to be able to provide hands on commercial management within complex bids and projects often with challenging commercial and contractual issues. Activities will include the leading of negotiations, developing pricing and business winning strategies and obtaining internal approvals
• The candidate should be able to develop, maintain excellent working relationships with both internal and external customers and stakeholders

About You:

• Established Commercial background within the military/ defence sector for both UK MOD and export customers
• In depth professional knowledge of Commercial principles, techniques and practices with an understanding of how Commercial roles fit in to an organisation as a whole
• Comfortable with a flexible working environment and able to work with a variety of teams
• Strong analytical and numerical skills and proficient with all Microsoft Office products
• Confident presenting skills

You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years
