Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer

Salary: up to £62,000 per annum dependent upon experience

Location: Cowes, Isle of Wight

We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Senior Systems Engineer. The role will be based in Cowes on the Isle of Wight and requires the post holder to be on site 5 days per week. Flexible working hours are available.

They work at the cutting edge of technology, creating more than 100 new inventions every year for customers in over 100 countries.

You will be working as a Senior Systems Engineer within the close-knit Multi-Function Radar team of inter-disciplinary engineers, evolving the radar portfolio of existing and brand-new radar products to address emerging and future threats in the realm of Future Air Dominance.

With demonstrable experience in contemporary Systems Engineering, you will become an integral member of a growing team to deliver next generation technology solutions and help develop our junior systems engineering population.

The site in Cowes is an easily accessible commute from Southampton with a regular foot passenger ferry and a company shuttle service from the ferry terminal to site.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Create innovative solutions to evolving technological and operational challenges for complex Multi-Function Radar systems that our clients and end-user communities are experiencing

 

  • Using a wide range of expertise in systems engineering concepts and methods to provide technical solutions and address engineering problems

 

  • Undertake system design analysis to manage trade-offs of system parameters to characterise and specify robust design

 

  • Discern and decompose requirements to system and sub-system level and manage these in an approved toolset such as IBM DOORS Next

 

  • Be a key technical contributor conducting system development and implementation activities, with internal & customer stakeholder engagement, and mentoring of junior engineering peers

 

  • Working together with specialists in diverse engineering fields, such as software, mechanical, electrical, and electronics, to realize comprehensive system design solutions

 

  • Planning and undertaking system integration and testing

 

  • Contribute to definition and articulation of system acceptance strategies demonstrating system performance across a wide range of operational scenarios underpinned through production of customer acceptance evidence

 

  • You will develop a broad knowledge base in radar engineering and enhance your personal profile with senior stakeholders through these efforts

About You:

  • Understanding of at least one of the following subject areas; signal processing, target track extraction, object classification algorithms, system and sensor resource optimisation.

 

  • An appreciation of factors that can affect the real-world performance of sensing systems and how these can impact the accuracy and timeliness of measurements to meet challenging design objectives and requirements

 

  • Demonstrates understanding and experience of Systems Engineering which could include knowledge of Systems Engineering standards (e.g., ISO 15288)

 

  • Higher education (or equivalent experience) in a relevant STEM discipline

 

You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years
