Job Title: Principal Systems Engineer
Salary: up to £65,000 per annum dependent on experience
Location: Rochester
We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Principal Systems Engineer. This role will be based in Rochester and hybrid working is available- individual circumstances will be considered and discussed.

The Principal Systems Engineer will provide technical expertise supporting their Civil Head-Up Display product line. This challenging role involves:
• Providing technical direction for the product support programmes
• Leading investigations into product failures and faults
• Support safety investigations and support corrective action resolution
• Managing improvements to the design pack
• Technical consultation with the customer, manufacturing and the repair shop
Main Responsibilities:
• Understanding operational scenarios and complex customers’ needs to specify and manage requirements at multiple levels
• Maintaining and supporting existing in service products
• Steering improved design changes to address obsolescence
• Supporting enhanced fault investigation activities
• Leading root cause analysis

About You:
Essential:
• Significant proven experience developing and delivering systems in relevant product markets and/or domains, such as control systems, real time displays or other safety related systems, containing multiple technical disciplines such as electronics, mechanics, optics and/or software
• Proven experience in requirements management, design analyses, modelling and simulation, using tools such as DOORS and/or Siemens Polarion
• Proven experience in integration, test and verification of real time and/or safety related systems, with understanding of safety assessment and/or flight clearance processes including how these processes influence the product CONOPS, architecture and design
• Proven ability to connect and maintain effective interpersonal networks internally and across the community including significant customer and/or supplier liaison experience for technical aspects, verifying and obtaining agreement that customer needs are satisfied
• A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant Scientific/Engineering subject (e.g. Systems Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics or Mathematics)
Desirable:
• Familiarisation with Civil Aviation design and safety standards
• Model Based Systems Engineering experience with tools such as Enterprise Architect, MATLAB and/or Simulink and design methodologies such as SysML
• An understanding of information assurance, cyber security and/or environmental impact aspects relating to real time embedded engineering products
